ABOUT OGUNI TOWN
It is located in the Kyushu mountain area in the northern end of Kumamoto Prefecture in central Kyushu. The eastern, northern and western parts of the town border Oita Prefecture. About 80% of the town area is a mountain forest, and about 75% of that forest is a cedar artificial forest ("Kogunisugi")

The population is approximately 7,500 people (2018)

Forestry (Kogunisugi) has long been the center of Oguni town's industry. In agriculture, radish production and breeding of jersey cattle introduced in the late 1950s are popular.
In addition, there are many natural hot spring facilities (Kanedate Hot Spring / Kuwata Hot Spring) famous throughout the town.

In recent years, fashionable cafes and restaurants that utilize the natural environment are also increasing.
